Laptop efficency

Hi,

I've just acquired a SSD drive and moved from Win7 to Linux Min19 and I've noticed overheating and governor running too fast.
I've a Toshiba Satellite L750 (Core i5) with 8GB of RAM. The energy plan is set to powersave, but it does not seem to work as expected, since based on the documentation the stepping is slow and very conservative, while I'm noticing very fast changes in the processor speed that heat up cores a lot and cause the fan to run very fast, which becomes noisy and annoying.

Today, I've just applied an update in the nvidia driver, which improved temperature and performance, but I'm still having higher temperatures compared to Windows (52ºC vs 42ºC).

Is there anything I could do to fix this?
What settings would you suggest to optimize performance and battery life in Laptops? I've only disabled visual effects.

Please post the output of this terminal command:

Enclose the results between [ⅽode] and [/ⅽode] code markers by selecting </> from the mini toolbar above the textbox where you type your reply. Note that it's a capital F in that command, followed by lower case xz.

But that is exactly what "performance" is about?! Powersave would be for... well.. power saving... *confused*

I'm truly sorry, I meant that power plan is set to "powersave" and not to "performance". What the heck I was thinking about? :?

I have a 2015-vintage Toshiba P50-C laptop which is i5 based. I installed tlp and, because of the i5s age, linux-tools-generic. I left everything at defaults and battery charging and running on battery are well-managed. I rarely notice cooling fan speed-up.
