External USB drive removal - unmount?

Post by EdB »

If I have a USB external drive attached, can I safely unplug it after selecting "unmount" from the Nemo menu?
That is, is 'unmount' equivalent to Windows 'safely remove"?

Thanks, Ed

I haven't had any problems with your way. I usually get a brief popup saying wait one sec while writing to it and then it unmounts.

Yes.

Sort of. The drive won't unmount if something on it is in use.
