I Can't install the D-link DWL-G510 desktop adapter (wifi)

Post by Croc Noir »

So I have this adapter and I did the normal installation with the cd, i had to run the "setup.exe" and because it's supposed to run on windows xp, it doesn't run, when I open it, the first time there is a terminal but he disappear in a millisecond, when I re-open it, nothing happen.

It's a old compaq PC who ran on windows vista previously.
I have Linux Mint 19 "Tara" Cinnamon

PS: I don't have wifi connection.

you might want to try ndiswrapper - search for it through your Synaptic Package Manager and install it from there

More info is here
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/wiki ... /Main_Page

It implements Windows kernel API and NDIS (Network Driver Interface Specification) API within Linux kernel.

Installation help is here
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiD ... diswrapper

Hope this helps

The first step (after making sure that the card is properly inserted) is to find out - from the card itself - what chipset is implemented on the card. This can be done by running the following command:

Code: Select all

$ lspci | grep -i network
Copy/paste the results back in your next post inside

tags (you can use the button above the text window with the </> label.
