Mint 19 - Wifi driver not working

Hello,

I installed Mint 19 on to my partner's Dell Latitude E7440 laptop (she was running Windows 10, but it ended up flickering to, before becoming permanently stuck on, 'aeroplane mode', so I hoped that installing Mint would provide better stability and overcome the wifi problem). Anyway, everything was fine with the install, except the wifi again didn't work. I went to Driver Manager to find it blank with 'No Proprietary Drivers are in use' message.
Really stuck. Any help to solve would be really appreciated.

Check the switch on the right side near the headphones port to see if it is on

Yep, that was it. Three months of complicated fix attempts via YouTube tutorials, and other hopeless tries.
