No Wireless Option

Post by DaSpikeyBoss »

I recently installed Linux Mint on a asus because windows was running so slow. I loved it so much I decided to install it on my HP. When I booted up to the usb there was no wireless option. I didn't think about it much and installed it offline. But there is still no wireless option. I have tried connecting using an ethernet cable but it keeps going, connecting... - disconnected - connecting--. very frustrating. Please help.

Also, you have to go into Network Connections from the Menu & set up your connections for Wifi & Ethernet to work.

How?
Go to Menu (lower left), under 'All' find Network Connections, click Add & add your Wifi info. In IPv4, set it like this:

Method: Automatic (DHCP) addresses only
DNS servers: 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4.

Check the box: Require IPv4 addressing for this connection to complete
Click Save, Reboot

You can use any DNS you like, just be sure their numbers are separated by a comma.

I Followed the link and typed in lsusb. it retuned:
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0bda:b009 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 05c8:03c7 Cheng Uei Precision Industry Co., Ltd (Foxlink)

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0438:7900 Advanced Mico Devices, Inc.
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

I thing the id is the first one 0bda:b009. but I can't work out what chipset it is.

Thanks in advance.
