Control fan speed with lm-sensors on acer notebook

Post by Minusgrad »

Hi,
I just bought a new Acer Aspire 5 A515 52 70x5 notebook.
It annoys me quite a bit, that I can hear the fan almost all the time, even in idle mode, is this normal?

I tried to install lm-sensors and fancontrol , but I got stuck following this guide:
I cant see any fan at all in my system:

Code: Select all

mine@mine-Aspire-A515-52:~$ sensors
iwlwifi-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1: +36.0°C

coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Package id 0: +40.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
Core 0: +39.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
Core 1: +40.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
Core 2: +40.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
Core 3: +40.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)

pch_cannonlake-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1: +45.0°C
therefore I cant continue with further steps or pwmconfig tells me that there are no pwm-capable sensor modules installed

Im using:

Code: Select all
