Mint does not detect second SSD in computer

Post by exfed2002 »

I have a WIN 10 installation using UEFI bios on one SSD in the computer.

I just installed Tara to a second SSD which will be reserved solely for Mint.

My problem is that Mint does not even detect the presence of the second (WIN10 NTFS) SSD so that I can access some files used in common between the two OS's.

In an earlier 18.3 installation, this was not a problem and i could mount the logical drives on the WIN10 drive at boot. If WIN did not shut down properly, they could be detected but not mounted, as would be expected, but now the second SSD does not even show up when I go to DISKS. The Linux SSD does show up in WIN10 computer manager.

This is an inconvenience, as I can always just synchronize the common files on the Mint SSD, but I'd like it to work as before.

Ideas?

Two possible things to check: 1) Is Fast Boot disabled in Win10? 2) Is Secure Boot disabled in BIOS?
Linux Mint 19.2 x64 Cinnamon 4.15.0-101-generic
Gigabyte GA-AB350M-D3H (F20) / Ryzen 5 1600 / Micron Ballistix Sport DDR4 2400 2x8GB / Sapphire Radeon HD6450
NVMe-SSD: Samsung 960 EVO 250GB / SATA-SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB + Toshiba OCZ VX500 512GB

You may want to open the Terminal and enter:
sudo mount -a

Then reboot.
