Re: Hp Laptop doesn't wifi
In terminal with ethernet connection do
Reboot
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install dkms git build-essential
git clone -b extended https://github.com/lwfinger/rtlwifi_new.git
sudo dkms add ./rtlwifi_new
sudo dkms install rtlwifi-new/0.6
sudo cp -r rtlwifi_new/firmware/rtlwifi/ /lib/firmware/rtlwifi
echo "options rtl8723be ant_sel=2" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/rtl8723be.conf
Re: Hp Laptop doesn't wifi

Code: Select all
echo "options rtl8723be ant_sel=1 ips=N aspm=0" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/rtl8723be.conf
Re: Hp Laptop doesn't wifi
wifi doesn't work. It looks complicated to me, what is the problem with this wireless card? What should I do now?

There are actually 2 problems, the big problem is that HP decided to only use one antenna wire on a wifi card designed for 2 antennas. Problem 2 is that a commit was allowed into the kernel that broke antenna selection and normally using that github source fixes that issue. You could look through BIOS settings to see if there is an ASPM setting that can be disabled.
Might as well change the option back to the one that normally works
There is a chance that editing /etc/default/grub and adding

In which line should I insert iommu=soft? And in which way? Something like #"iommu=soft" ?
