bluetooth

Post by jondoe »

Hello All,
Recently I have run into a Bluetooth Problem .

Mint 19.1 Cinnamon
I added a Bluetooth USB Dongle, so I could use a Bluetooth Headset.

I have had great success using three headsets(not at same time of course)
2 of the headsets are same exact brand and model ( one on charger while using the other)

Problem :
When first noticed problem I hit something with a mouse tick in sound adjust icon near clock then my bluetooth has never been same.
This maybe a coincidence , because I also upgraded Kernel to newest , just few days ago.

1. I hit sound icon with mouse
2. Now bluetooth pairs but yutube hangs
3. if youtube works I get no sound , unless use computer speakers not headset
4. tried a mp3 file same thing on headset.
5. try a diff headset and all works , try the suspected headset on diff devices with no troubles.

Wish there was a way to rename devices , maybe mint confused by me having multiple devices with same name when found in pairing

so in other words i have 3 devices always listed in mint as paired before, 2 have same name.

Re: bluetooth

Post by jondoe »

I just Double Checked ( remember I have 3 bluetooth headsets and 2 are the same brand and model)

Brand: Jlab Headset still works fine as always

Brand: TreksAir by afterShokz The one I have problems with , I re connected to Mint and it says connected even said it thru my headeset
re checked youtube = no sound re checked a music file = no sound

Next

Connected my second TreksAir by afterShokz and all works fine youtube and music file

Connected the problem TreksAir by afterShokz to my other devices ( phone and tablet works fine)

I have removed device ( i think right mouse click and remove) , hoping this would forever delete device and what ever setting i messed up.
I think I have to flush it completely somehow. And re pair. -----Not sure how to purge it completely in linux.
Re-pair does not fix it. Any Help or ideas welcome.
