new system doesn't see hard drive [SOLVED]

Post by doubleganger »

I just built a new system with mint 19.1
Old system is 18.3
I have two 6T disks in raid 1
I have always used "sudo mdadm --assemble --scan" to go to a new box but it is failing. Sorry but I didn't note the error but I don't think it's a raid problem.
Apparently the problem is that the box just doesn't recognize one of the disks, as I can't even see it in gparted on the new box.
I had about decided that the disk had just failed but took them back to my old box and everything works fine.
I know I'm not giving a lot of information but hoped someone might have an idea.

Just thought I'd mention that on the new computer I swapped the positions of the two drives and it was still the same one not recognized, so I know it isn't a problem with a cable or port.

Never mind I got it working. Reinstalled mint.
