19.1 64-bit MATE: MTP not recognized

Post by jehuty »

I have a BLU cell phone that I could connect for file transfer without any issue in 18.3. 19.1 doesn't recognize it. My cell phone charges while connected, but the usual prompt to change between charging and file transfer doesn't appear. I installed mtp-tools and it hasn't changed.

Output of inxi -Fxz while it's connected:

I think mtp-tools is for samsung phones. I don't see it connected, or am I blind..When the phone is connected is it showing in the devices?

Any chance you are using a different USB cable? Some USB cables are sold for charging, BUT do not support data.

I think you will find that all usb cables that come with mobile phones and tablets are both.

It's the same USB cable I used for 18.3. Likewise, the phone was supported in 18.3 but doesn't appear to be recognized now. It appears to be some sort of regression in Mint.

The phone doesn't show up in the explorer or desktop when connected.
