What's the easiest way to remove these drivers (these ones) and go back to using the default setup?
That was the question I had asked earlier.

What is eventually learned is to run:

Code: Select all

% sudo dkms remove rtlwifi_new
To be sure that the operation had an effect, compare results from running the following operation before and after:

Code: Select all

% sudo dkms status
Of course rebooting is necessary before changes take effect.

Thanks for that! I got an error running that, but after a little googling of those terms, I found that running this worked:

Code: Select all

sudo dkms remove rtlwifi-new/0.6 --all
rtflwifi-new is now definitely gone and my wi-fi still works after reboot, so I can only assume that it is now running off of the official drivers.

Thanks for adding the missing details to the command line. I probably forgot about them since I ran it several weeks ago.
