Indexed HDD Full_Add New HDD

Post by JoHubb » Mon Jun 24, 2019 2:11 am

I have 2.4 TB used space on a 3 TB drive. Running 18.4 Mate.

The material consists of familly videos, photos and some downloaded films. The family photos are index listed using LibreCalc.
I wish to retain all this material.

Is it possible to add another 3TB HDD and have LibreCalc update the index across both disks as new items are added? I would need advice how to do this.

Or do I have to split the content into two halves and index these separately e.g. A-L and M-Z. This would be slow but easy to do.

Any other ideas gratefully received! Thanks.

I have no idea how you are creating an index of your photos with Libre Calc.
I presume that it is using a macro to do that, in which case the macro would certainly need alteration if another drive was added.

It might be a great deal easier to use something like Rapid Photo Downloader, but I guess that depends on exactly how you wish to index them..

Thanks.

I use alphabetical indexing in LibreCalc and it is very simple. I am just an amateur but I have amassed a lot of material, some of it scanned from slides and prints.

The problem is not the indexing per se. It is the linking together of two HDDs so that they read as a single volume.

This can be done in Win 10 - using Spanned or Striped drives. I am not sure if Linux supports this. I guess it does but I need information.
