No access to peripherals

Post by mhenriday » Fri Sep 06, 2019 7:17 am

When I started Mint 19.2 on my main box this morning, I was devastated to find that I could neither use my USB-keyboard nor my USB-mouse. I had, as usual, launched Mint via the GRUB menu and there the keyboard had worked nominally. I've tried such measures as running

Code: Select all

sudo fsck -f
,

Code: Select all

sudo fsck /dev/sda1
, and

Code: Select all

sudo fsck -fvCy /dev/sda1
from a flashdrive (and there, of course, both keyboard and mouse worked perfectly), and then rebooting, but no joy. Anything else I can do before re-installing Mint from scratch, which would mean several hours spent configurering the installation to match my needs ?...
