New System build and NVMe PCIe M.2 Support

Hi...

I'm building a new system, as my current one is a Q6600 from 2009 which has run min since the days of Gloria... but it's showing it's age.

My proposed build is below and I would love any feedback, particularity with regard to general linux compatibility... but im particularity wondering about NVMe PCIe M.2 Support.





Do I just plug in the M.2 and mint sees it like any other hard drive - or is there some tweaking needed?



I'm reusing my current GeForce GTX 950 as im not really a gamer anyway.

The system will be pure Linux, so no windows dual boot to worry about

Yes. Linux has supported NVMe for a very long time.

Can vouch for corsair NVMe drives, I have two and they are working great. In fact, I would reccommend you just use NVMe for day to day usage, and use an external SSD or HDD as backup, M.2 is much faster.

On Amazon your chosen mobo has mixed reviews on installing Linux. Not to start a opinion war, but I've never had a problem with Asrock mobos and Linux, but I have had them with other brands. I usually search the reviews at Newegg and Amazon for others experiences installing Linux. What CPU are you going to use? Graphics card or CPU integrated?

That is pretty new hardware, would recommend upgrading to latest 5 series kernel ASAP.
