Loading Broadcom BCM4311 drivers

Post by Grayfox » Thu Sep 12, 2019 8:57 am

I was working on this issue for a while, finally finding a solution which linked to this page
http://linuxg.net/how-to-fix-broadcom-b ... inux-mint/
I removed and purged bcmwl-kernel-source
Used the b43-installer mentioned on another guide.

My main issue is how can I get this to load on boot without using the terminal

Thank you

I've never had any issue with getting a Broadcom driver to load after installing it. The question is: which driver?

That blog isn;t all that good ... you NEED to get the PCI ID with Broadcom cards and they don't mention that ... plus the article is from 2013. There's very little backwards compatibility in Linux so old solutions aren't a good idea.

Since this was a clean install for a family members old old laptop I reinstalled mint and done that guide and it worked.
Now need to get other bits of hardware to work.
