Gnomad2 ... either crashing or endlessly scanning

Postby kate » Wed Jul 29, 2009 9:31 pm

Ok I have one of the (apparently) dreaded Creative Zen mp3 players.
Mine is a 30GB Zen Extra from 2003.

I have done absolutely everything I can find which has been recommended for getting my computer to recognize this blasted player.
My current hangup is that when I plug in the player and start gnomad2, it either immediately crashes, or is endlessly scanning.
The process is always a zombie when I check it in the monitor.

Whhhaaaaat is wronnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng and what can I do???

Ughhh I just want my music!

Thanks...

2008-01-28: Gnomad 2.9.1 adds support for device detection using D-Bus and HAL, you can plug in/out devices and gnomad2 will react. We will not erroneously delete "." or ".." dirs. We can cancel up/download on MTP devices. You can use taglib only if you want to. (No more libid3tag, but this is NOT RECOMMENDED). And finally we have folder support for the MTP devices.
You are invited to read the Gnomad README file and Change Log

Gnomad2
--what specifically have you tried so far ?
set as an MTP device ?
http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-267462.html
--other options Amarok, maybe rythymbox with plug-ins..

I had to start gnomad2 as root (gksudo gnomad2) to make it work.

zombie, starting it that way got me further than anything. when i did gksudo gnomad2, it loads (instead of crashes) but it just is spending forever scanning, and never getting anywhere. when i check the process, it is a zombie. have you ever had that problem?

i feel like i am getting close to solving the problem...

No, I never had that problem. After it starts as root it works perfectly... Sorry...
