tablet buttons on hp tc1100.

Postby ParadigmBlu3 » Sat Aug 01, 2009 3:08 pm

I just received an hp tc1100, but I cannot get the three buttons to work on the face of the touchscreen. The install of Mint 7.0 correctly set up my pen, but the "soft" buttons on the front of the tablet are not reading anything. I tried capturing the key presses with xbindkeys, but nothing showed up when I pressed the buttons. My xorg.conf file is:

# xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
# Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
# Note that some configuration settings that could be done previously
# in this file, now are automatically configured by the server and settings
# here are ignored.
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Configured Monitor"

Section "Screen"
Identifier "Default Screen"
Monitor "Configured Monitor"
Device "Configured Video Device"
DefaultDepth 24
Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"

Section "Module"
Load "glx"

Section "Device"
Identifier "Configured Video Device"
Driver "nvidia"
Option "NoLogo" "True"
Option "RandRRotation" "True"

Section "ServerFlags"
Option "DontZap" "False"

I don't see a "Stylus" section so I suspect that the system somehow configured the pen another way. How would I find out which device is being used as the pad currently so I can bind it by inserting a "pad" section into this file? Does this sound like the right direction to head down? I already have wacom-tools installed.

xorg.conf is slowly disappearing and is not used for configuring I/O devices any more
This page over at Ubuntu tells you how to do it now - please read the entire page before you try anything
It can seem a bit confusing but that is not really the case
The problems with these tablets I'm struggling with now is that the pen, but not fingers, are recognized
I have not seen this specific problem before
Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
