If you can't find it in your Menu, you can start it from the terminal with
Re: Audio Cart ALC3204 - does not detect microphone
Hi,
I understand now...
I deleted the line options snd-hda-intel model = *
And I tried all unconnected pins. Unsuccessfully.
Should I try to add the line snd-hda-intel ..... to the configuration file and try unconnected pins again, or is it stupid?

Re: Audio Cart ALC3204 - does not detect microphone
Yeah, go ahead and add back the model=laptop_amic or model=laptop_dmic. The difference here is there should then already be a pin for Internal Microphone in hdajackretask. Click on Advanced override in the upper right, and tell me what the 8 boxes say for the Internal Microphone pin.

Re: Audio Cart ALC3204 - does not detect microphone
We're looking for the Internal Mic, not Internal Speaker. If you run
dmesg | grep snd
, you should see the pin number it uses in the Inputs: section of the autoconfig for ALC3204Re: Audio Cart ALC3204 - does not detect microphone
Oh, sorry, I am stupid...
Internal mic not view in Jack retasking...

Re: Audio Cart ALC3204 - does not detect microphone
It should show something for pin 0x12. Maybe you need to click on Show unconnected pins? Or maybe you just need to scroll?
Re: Audio Cart ALC3204 - does not detect microphone
Okay, check the Override box, then click on Apply now and test if it's working. If so, then click on Install boot override.
Re: Audio Cart ALC3204 - does not detect microphone
Check override -> aply now, but no changes...
Internal mic is detecterd, but no record...

Re: Audio Cart ALC3204 - does not detect microphone
Check if anything is muted in both pavucontrol and alsamixer. In alsamixer, this includes the Capture column that is exposed when you press F4.

Re: Audio Cart ALC3204 - does not detect microphone
I'm at a loss right now. Maybe when the next kernel series arrives, that may fix this. The only thing I think we didn't try is reloading all the sound stuff with this:
That might undo your change to alsa-base.conf
Other than that, I've got nothing left. I will try to think of something else to try, but I probably won't have anything for a day or two.
Code: Select all
apt install --reinstall alsa-base alsa-utils pulseaudio linux-sound-base libasound2

Re: Audio Cart ALC3204 - does not detect microphone
No changes...
Thanks you so much...
Do you think it is possible that this will be fixed in another version of ubuntu or LM 20? (In Ubuntu 19.10 is same problem...)

Re: Audio Cart ALC3204 - does not detect microphone
I think the best chance is whatever kernel is going to come after 5.3. It may be 5.4 or could jump to 5.5 or even later. That's where the "fixes" will be that hopefully will include your system.
There's a possibility something like Manjaro will work. Something that has a recent enough kernel and isn't Ubuntu based. Maybe even Debian, but I'm suspecting a lesser chance with that. I'd suggest trying a live version of Manjaro and see if the internal mic is recognized without even installing the OS. If it is, then there's a very good chance Mint 20 will work when it comes out.

Re: Audio Cart ALC3204 - does not detect microphone
I am on Mint 20, kernel 5.11.7 and this problem is still there. I have a Dell 17 Inspiron (7706), which apparently also has this codec according to my alsa script output. http://alsa-project.org/db/?f=7366da8bd ... 85b687e879
Using either of those settings in `/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf` I get it showing up in Sound settings, but volume is fixed at 0. In `pavucontrol` I get an internal microphone that shows some noise, and does not react to any sound near the computer.

Maybe I should make a new thread, I see there's a few others on this issue, but not with my laptop, the others are for Dell Vostro.

Re: Audio Cart ALC3204 - does not detect microphone
Hi asdfuioda,
Remove the model=dell-vostro enable=1 index=0 edit you made in /etc/modprobe.d then reboot and run this command and paste the output:
