Use pavucontrol. On the Configuration tab make sure Digital Stereo (IEC958) Output + Analog Stereo Input is selected. Then the Output Devices tab will probably already be set to the S/PDIF output Port.

Sorry I just fell-in pavucontrol, there is selected hdmi in conf. spdf option don't exist.

It appears I may have erred in the implementation of the state.plugged control.

Make that section look like this instead, although I've read that jack detection doesn't work with S/PDIF, but we'll give it a shot regardless:

Here is the list I can see line with SPDIF is missing but it was there in the third post at start of this adventure, just under audio headphones.

In the middle of that first section, I see this:

Back at the beginning it said available: unknown instead of available: no. I believe that last edit caused this, which might get fixed by making the change in my last post.

Also the Alsa long card name is change, maybe updating the bios!!!!!

More likely, a result of the change made in this post: viewtopic.php?p=1742611#p1742611

Go back and delete that options line as it didn't help anyway.

Yes, then see if pacmd list-cards is back to what it was in the beginning. Until you make the newest change above, it'll probably still say available: no for the Digital options.

Damn! I'm sorry but I've got nothing left. Change that section back to this:

I deleted the lines is all back as is was still don't work, I try to put a bug report if I can't I'll ask for help. Anyway thank you very much for having a good try.

This is a complete stab in the dark, and I'm not super hopeful it'll change anything for the better:

echo "options snd-intel-dspcfg dsp_driver=1" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/alsa1.conf
Assuming no error, reboot then test if the S/PDIF can be selected and works. If it doesn't sudo rm -v /etc/modprobe.d/alsa1.conf will delete the file.
