DVD Writer Issues

Postby Gamer » Sun Aug 16, 2009 7:15 pm

I'm working with my sister's Aspire One, with the newest version of Mint, and trying to burn DVDs using her external drive, the LG GP08. I haven't found the correct drivers for it I think, because neither Brasero or k3b recognize the drive, though I'm able to rip DVDs using Handbrake. If anyone has a clue, I would love some "DVD burner installation for dummies" type help.

Thank a lot in advance!

What happens when you insert a blank media disk without opening/starting handbrake
HandBrake is an open-source, GPL-licensed, multiplatform, multithreaded video transcoder, available for MacOS X, Linux and Windows.

If you install a dvd player, such as vlc (which will include the libdvdcss file), then it could read/play a dvd movie
--perhaps then both brasero or k3b (uses wodim library) would recognize the drive; or you could try another library type and use xfburn (uses liburnia)
