I'm looking for a decent and not expensive webcam foruse with Jitsi, Jami and Skype.
I have an old Logitech (640 x 480) but that does not work with Skype.
Thinking of Logitech C270 but does this work with Linux and Skype?
Any other affordable brand is ok with me.
Thx in advance.

Do you have a smartphone with decent sound and video?

I've not tried it myself yet, but look at this topic about droidcam . Not sure what apps will work with it, but as there's no money involved to try it, I'd say it's worth a shot.

Whether this will help or not but we have a spherical Logitech E2500 on one desktop, a horizontal tubular-ish Logitech, C170, on another desktop and a Microsoft on a third desktop. They all work using Zoom. The worst one is the Microsoft as it over exposes and there aren't any controls on Zoom or Mint 18.3 to adjust it.

There was a Logitech C170 advertised for $12 on the web, original box, never used - so it said.

Glad I could help! :D

I've never had the need for a webcam myself, but that thread made me curious. I'll be trying it out myself this weekend.

An interesting concept MrEen has come up with. These two links might help too -

Just to be clear, if it hadn't been for 10Mint's thread, I would have known nothing about droidcam, nor the idea of using a smartphone as a webcam.

With smartphones being so ubiquitous these days, it's a great option for those without a webcam already.

And thanks for the additional links RollyShed!
