Hi,
I followed your instructions, I found just one not connected pin (0x15) with Headphone in the list. I set it as you told me, but no sound.
I verified that there is another pin with Headphone in the list, but it's already assigned to internal speaker.
Go ahead and try changing the internal speaker one to headphone and see if that makes the headphones work. The speakers aren't working anyway, so it's worth a shot.

Oh darn, I posted this to the wrong thread!

Well, I'm losing hope this is going to work for you, but check the box for Advanced override and try changing the Channel (in group) to something else for the pin that is presently selected as Headphones. Front, and Channel 30&31 are 2 I see often, but try others as well.

I tested several combination, but not all the possible combination...no result unluckily
"Channel in group" can be set between Channel 8-9 to Channel 30-31. I tried also Front and Center/LFE

I'm suspecting we're not going to have any luck I'm afraid.

Keep an eye on the links I gave in this post. Hopefully someone in one of those thread will get their sound working and post the solution.

The only other software that might help is hda_analyzer.py, but I can't really give you any help with it. All I can say is you want to download all those files into one directory, then run python hda_analyzer.py in the terminal while in the same directory.

I'll follow those posts hoping someone sooner or later will find a new solution....
I'm trying to use the software you suggested me, but I found some library version troubles...

In case I didn't already mention it already, something like this should work for plugging in headphones and a microphone.

I'm sorry we couldn't figure this out. I hate giving up, but I've completely run out of ideas.

You're quite welcome.

If someone posts a solution, but you don't fully understand what you need to do, just post here and I'll take a look and hopefully be able to decipher what steps to take.

I looked through the outputs again, and came up with an idea that has worked for a couple of users.

In the terminal run alsamixer and arrow over to the Auto-Mute Mode column, then press the down arrow until it says Disabled. Then test the sound. I'm not expecting this to work for you, and it really shouldn't, but it has helped some people.

Hi,
I tested it as well, but with no result. Actually I verified that whenever I change parameters in HDAjack...., "auto-mute" in alsa mixer is enabled.
Thanks a lot

Try Disabling it instead. It may work, although I'm not expecting it to.

I doubt it'll help, but you can also use HDAJackRetask to turn Auto-Mute Mode off by checking Parser hints and double clicking on auto_mute twice so it says off.

Hi, I've found this:

https://www.linux.org/threads/asus-zenb ... lem.27384/

and this

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ASUS_Zenbook_UX534

I installed alsa-tools and I typed the following commands but I didn't get any audio output:

# hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x20 0x500 0x1b
# hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x20 0x477 0x4a4b
# hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x20 0x500 0xf
# hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x20 0x477 0x74

could you give me some hints about please?

best regards

Great find!

It's possible some of out attempts to get it working are interfering with this attempted fix. Run this command again please:

EDIT: Actually, run this first, one line at a time:

Code: Select all

sudo su
echo 1 > /sys/module/snd_hda_codec/parameters/dump_coef
exit
Then run this:

Code: Select all

curl https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/raw/master/src/utils/pa-info?inline=false | bash | nc termbin.com 9999
As well as this one:

Code: Select all

grep snd-hda-intel /etc/modprobe.d/*
We'll clean up anything we've applied, then try those hda-verb commands again on a fresh boot and see if they work for you.

I need to see the outputs to know what we still need to undo.

Okay, try this. Reboot then just run these two:

Code: Select all

sudo hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x20 0x500 0x0f
sudo hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x20 0x477 0x74
Then test the sound. Look for volume/mute possibilities if you don't hear anything. The output of amixer might be useful at this point.

And yes, I know I changed the 0xf to 0x0f. Just wanted to see if we have better luck that way, as 0x0f is the actual WID.

EDIT: Also try changing the Profile on the Configuration tab of pavucontrol to Off. Then change it back to Analog Stereo Duplex.
