Looks like the CPU is 64-bit, so I'd presume the rest of the infrastructure is as well. Try it. It will work or it won't.

Was able to boot Mint 18.0 64bit. 19 will boot but is a bit too much for the old machine. The processor is indeed 64 bit. What gets me is "Width: 32bits" See below.

Are the drivers for the 32bit Mint different than the drivers for the 64bit Mint?

For the OS. Didn't you say that you were running a 32-bit version of Linux Mint? Or is that output from the 64-bit that you were trying?

I can't speak to specifics, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were.

I would try LM 18.3 Xfce, which is still supported until April 2021.

EDIT: Also, the output to inxi -Fxz would provide some nice details of your system.

I ran 32 bit live, then I booted 64bit live. Both ran.

Oh, the hardware info i posted was from the 32bit live session

Then to answer your original question, you can run a 64-bit version of Linux Mint.
borgward wrote:Oh, the hardware info i posted was from the 32bit live session
Then that part of the output for the "id: mint" section was for the OS which you were running at the time, and thus shown as 32-bit.

Just as a hint when posting the output of commands as above, place them in the code tags </> icon above. It makes it much easier to follow a thread.

And probably with other items as well, as I'm sure not every single component of your system is of a 64-bit variety. :)

Most of them are 32bit, some are 64bit. I can run 64bit OS live. Does that mean I can install 64bit OS, Providing I have enough RAM? Owners Manual sites a 2 GB RAM limit. I am guessing it can see just under 3 GB of RAM. That sounds like a 32bit system.

Yes, you should.

2 GBs is what's recommended for comfortable usage for LM 18.3 Xfce.

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but regardless, I'd try the 64-bit version. Or stick with 32-bit if that makes you more comfortable.
