keyboard backlight turns ON on startup

Post by scubanix »

first time using the forum, so excuse any noobiness.

Since I installed Linux Miint 19.3 (mate), my keyboard backlight turns itself ON on startup, restart, or when I plug in the laptop to power.

This didn't happen when I was running Linux Mint 17.2 (mate) or previous versions.

I tried looking in the BIOS but with no success, and came across several similar issues (forums and posts online) but never exactly the same and, not knowing what I'm doing (or how to undo it) I prefer not to mess with commands and random solutions.

I'm running Mint 19.3 (MATE) on a Lenovo Thinkpad x250

hope someone can help

This has been an on going bug in the Mate desktop for a couple cycles now. I read a fix somewhere but unfortunately don't remember where.
I've since switched to Cinnamon on one Machine and XFCE on the other. Maybe some else has a fix for you but if I remember right it had to do with
editing a config file but can remember which one. I'll keep searching in my notes see if I can find it.
