Post by olo »

I am looking for something to control my fan speed on a Lenovo Yoga 710 (see bottom)
So far search was not very fruitful.
Any input welcome

the advanced search here is no big help, since it is ignoring it's own recommended boolean search
Search found 2445 matches: +fan + speed +control
Searched query: +speed +control
ignored: +fan
all I found was outdated no longer supported and no longer working things on the net.
even the trick via wine did not work to install a very good and easy speed control.

So no one her has any newer (4 years and younger) ultrabook or laptop where a speed control app what still works in 20 running?
is there not such thing as legacy support in Linux?
:(

Also don't forget to read the message in red/pink at the very top of the forum ;)
Laptop overheating? Check link here:itsfoss guide . A move from Cinnamon to XFCE can give a -5 to -10 degrees C change on overheating hardware.

@ sinoro yes I have and tried most things short of the compiler thing.
no go
also a lot of other things what did not work.

@ ZakGordon
and how does this help me with my question?

I also tried this good explanation https://youtu.be/XFYK9y55nZ4 but there are according to pwmconfig, There are no pwm-capable sensor modules installed*

well I can say that if you have a Lenovo Yoga 710 you are out of luck.
I switched to the first ultrabook an ASUS UX31E what has a very quiet fan and there fan control works out of the (Mint) box.
Go figure.
