Can I use my Roku 2 as a wireless display?

Post by iamoraal »

I just discovered that when I watch a YouTube video on Vivaldi browser that I can broadcast that video to my TV via my Roku 2 device. The Roku 2 already has YouTube on it so it's redundant, but got me wondering if I could get other applications such as VLC or Celluloid to broadcast to the Roku 2 device. A quick Google check found a few similar queries from like 10 years ago. I don't see it listed as either a wireless nor bluetooth device. I tried establishing a connection via Roku.com/link, but I did not see a link code on the TV. Also tried installing "Forked-daapd" but don't see/know how to use it.

Is there a way to connect my linux maachine wirelessly to my Roku device?
