Only one of two nvme SSD detected: Duplicate cntlid 0 with nvme1

Post by qianyun6 »

Hi, I have two Tigo SSD installed on my desktop, one installed Linux Mint 20, the other installed Windows 10. However, only the one installed Mint 20 can be identified, thus the grub cannot add Windows 10 as entry. Can someone shed some light on how to fix this? Thanks a lot!

You can't possibly have exhausted all of the options available to you for determining the root cause because a simple google search turned up this as the very first link: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=205645

A more refined search turned up this: https://cdn.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel ... Log-5.2.14

Will the drives boot their respective operating systems when they are installed individually?

Your first link is a simple bug report without any solution. I have tried to upgrade kernel to 5.6.11 and 5.7.1 with ukuu but no luck.

Apologize but throwing a discussion record between core developers with more than 10000 words won't help normal user.
Also Mint 20 is using kernel 5.4.x which should include all fixes for 5.2.14.

Thanks, MartyMint!

Yes, I can boot both system with switching boot priority in BIOS.
I tired different boot mode but no one can eliminate the cntlid error.

MAke sure RAID mode is not activated in BIOS for the slots.

I have b450 board with two nvme slots that work fine:

Code: Select all

mr_raider@HK-47:~$ sudo nvme list
Node SN Model Namespace Usage Format FW Rev

I checked my mode is AHCI not RAID.

I guess yours are working because they are from different manufacturer, so they naturally return different cntlid, but mine, unfortunately are of same brand same batch :(

Hi,

Unfortunately I haven't a solution for you, but just hit the same problem. Do you maybe find some workaround/solution for this problem?

No, the htread starter does not have and is unlikely to reply because he has not visited the forum in 2021 any longer.
Please, open your own thread, provide your system information and explain the problem, which you encounter in detail.
Closing this thread as a deadend.
