Post by Stefano »

Hello Everyone

I am new to Linux but I am enjoying it.

The only issue i have is that there's no way to make the Bluetooth to work

My laptop is a HP 15-da1017nw

Linux runs with Kernel 5.4.0-70-generic

I ran the following command to see the cards

Code: Select all

stefano@StefanoLaptop:~$ lspci

I add that the system is running in Dual Boot with Win10. (there the bluetooth is working fine, and i also tried to turn it off to see if it would have worked)

Any help on that?

Thanks a lot in advance :)

First, disable Fast StartUp in Windows power management, so that Windows will fully release PC resources when it shuts down.

In your BIOS, disable Secure Boot, as it's known to interfere with Linux and device drivers. Also disable Fast Boot in the BIOS, to avoid system hardware initialization shortcuts (in Dell systems, set Fast Boot to 'Minimal').

If these changes don't resolve your Bluetooth issue, let's see more system info:

Open a Terminal (Ctrl-Alt-T), click on SELECT ALL and copy-and-paste this long command-line...

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxxxrz;lsusb -tv;lspci -nnk;rfkill list;dkms status;cat /proc/cmdline;mokutil --sb-state
Copy the result output text of that command-line. In a reply, paste that text between BBCode code-block tags: [code] result output [/code].

AMD Ryzen 7 5825U / Barcelo iGPU - 14" WUXGA Touchscreen

Thanks a lot for your reply

I checked the BIOS. Secure Boot is disabled. If it could make any difference I have legacy mode Enabled, but i don't know if it makes a difference.
Fast start it's also disabled in Win.

The Bluetooth and wifi may be in conflict, so let's try this:

Open a Terminal (Ctrl-Alt-T), then copy-and-paste the following command-line...

Code: Select all

echo "options rtl8821ce rtw_btcoex_enable=0" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/rtl8821ce-btcoex.conf
Reboot.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, you can undo the above action with this: Open a Terminal, copy-and-paste the following command-line...

Code: Select all

sudo rm /etc/modprobe.d/rtl8821ce-btcoex.conf

BTW, your nVidia graphics driver is installed, but it isn't loading as it should. You could start a separate thread for that.
* DKMS installed that driver: nvidia, 460.39, 5.4.0-71-generic, x86_64: installed
* But inxi says "driver N/A": Device-2: NVIDIA GM108M [GeForce MX110] driver: N/A bus ID: 01:00.0

HI

Thanks a lot. I tried the first line, reboot, no changes.

The second also was unsuccessfull.

Could it be that this card is not so supported?

I tried to enable it as well

Code: Select all

stefano@StefanoLaptop:~$ sudo rm /etc/modprobe.d/rtl8821ce-btcoex.conf
[sudo] password for stefano:
stefano@StefanoLaptop:~$ systemctl start bluetooth
stefano@StefanoLaptop:~$ /etc/init.d/bluetooth status

Sometimes that service was shown as active.

Ps. How do you see that my Nvidia drivers are not working properly? i will open a thread, but i would need to see the problem

Thanks again :)

In your new thread, include all the output text of this command-line, to show the problem and other system info...

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxxxrz;lspci;dkms status;cat /proc/cmdline;lshw -c video

Let's look a bit further at your Bluetooth issue.

Enable Bluetooth under Windows, and check that it works there, for some assurance that your hardware is okay (hopefully).

Install the systool diagnostic utility, and restart Bluetooth: Copy-and-paste the following Terminal command-line...

Code: Select all

sudo apt install sysfsutils && sudo service bluetooth restart

To collect more Bluetooth info, copy-and-paste the following three Terminal command-lines, one by one...

Code: Select all

cd ~/Downloads;(hciconfig -a;service bluetooth status;systool -vm rtl8821ce) > btinfo.txt 2>&1
(lsmod|egrep -i "rt|rl|rw|bt|88";dmesg|egrep -i "firm|blue|err|fail|unab") >> btinfo.txt
(journalctl -b|grep -i bluetooth;rfkill) >> btinfo.txt;nc termbin.com 9999 <<<`cat btinfo.txt`

After the last command-line, and a brief pause, a termbin.com URL will appear in the Terminal. Post that URL in a reply.

Hello

In Windows all is working ok. I tried and pair my phone to the Bluetooth successfully.

I executed the line and here's the URL that has been retrieved
