incorrect temperatures A10 5700 AMD APU

Post by Nameless »

Hello,
I'm new to Linux Mint and really love it.
I have an issue with the temperatures "sudo sensors" is reading.

Code: Select all

sudo sensors
radeon-pci-0008
Adapter: PCI adapter
temp1: -4.0°C (crit = +120.0°C, hyst = +90.0°C)

k10temp-pci-00c3
Adapter: PCI adapter
temp1: +0.0°C (high = +70.0°C)
                       (crit = +70.0°C, hyst = +69.0°C)
These are wrong but I don't know how to fix them. I stumbled upon some sites who fixed this problem with other CPUs and on other operating systems.

My System:
AMD A10-5700 APU with Radeon Graphics
Motherboard: Medion MS-7800

I would be very happy if someone could help me fixing this problem.
Thank you!

Welcome to the forum, Nameless.

Please give us information about your install by entering this command in a terminal: inxi -Fxxxrz
Click </> from the mini toolbar above the textbox where you type your reply and then place your cursor between the code markers and paste the results of the command between the code markers
Results
. This will let us know how Mint sees your hardware.

As a start, I suggest updating your system. The image on the installation ISO is frozen at the time the ISO was originally created, so it does not have all the updates which have happened since then. You not only do not have the latest kernel, but I see several items in the graphics section which are old versions as well.

Open Update Manager and click Refresh to see all the available updates. If you did not do this after installing, there will probably be a long list.

I would also suggest checking to see if there is a newer UEFI/BIOS available and applicable for your system.

I have not done much work with temperature monitoring, so maybe someone else will have some ideas of what might be happening. It might be something specific to that cpu?

I installed all updates via Update Manager and updated my BIOS. Still got the problem.
But I found out that there is a new problem. The BIOS shows 32C temperature, windows shows 62C and Mint shows 0 - 5C. Im really confused.

Does anyone know a method I can put something at my CPU and sensor my temps?

I did a search on "AMD A10-5700 temperatures not correct" and found this thread Help finding out AMD A10 CPU temperature. It's an older thread, but there are some links to AMD docs and info about what capabilities for temperature monitoring could be done with it. Maybe that will give you some context about the issue or ideas to pursue.

Thank you very very much for helping me.
I really appreciate it!

Anyway I'm not Interested anymore in solving this problem.
My PC is 8 years old now and I build a new one some Months ago. I will still use my old pc for office work but temps are not really important...
Linux Mint really boosted the usage power.
I will just clean it well, put on a new thermal paste and thats it. If I want to measure temps I will just put my hand behind the Powersupply.

Thank you and have a nice day.
