i know partition 1 is failing with "corrupt" files too. Says something like this:
(even with a clean install formated partition 1)

exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0/0 action 0x0
BMDMA stat 0x25
failed command: READ DMA
cmd
res
status { DRDY ERR }
error: { UNC }
_req_error: I/O error, dev sda, sector .... flags
error on swap-device

partition 2 with linux working fine, partition 3 with windows trial working fine.
whats is wrong with sda1 or disk something...

If I had an older hard drive with a partition that continued to fail even after formatting it, I'd consider a new drive.

Regardless, this article details a decent list of S.M.A.R.T. attributes ...

To Joe, note that this was also already answered at viewtopic.php?p=2003257#p2003257 and including a possible try-around (which should however not even be attempted in this case; that drive is toast).
