Hp Laserjet 1018 USB failed to install in LM20.1

Post by andrewgouw »

When I try to install hplip-3.21.2.run it told me that LM20 is not supported. Is there a solution to this?
Attached is a screen capture of the installation

You can try to install from PPA. viewtopic.php?f=51&t=346951&p=2002544#p2002544

andrewgouw,

I got the same result as you in Mint 20.1 when trying to install hplip-3.21.2 for my HP printer, which is similar to yours.

Version hplip 3.20.11 is already installed. After installing hplip-gui, I ran the program and a message about needing the hplip-plugin appeared. The program tried to download the plugin but it failed with a “file does not match its checksum” message.
So I downloaded the plugin from here: https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imag ... ng/plugins

There are two files: hplip-3.20.11-plugin.run & hplip-3.20.11-plugin.run.asc
I’m not sure what the second one does but it wasn’t needed by me to print.

I installed the plugin: sh hplip-3.20.11-plugin.run and the printer worked.

I also tested adding kelebek333’s PPA to get version 3.21.2 and it worked. What is strange, after doing a search, is that I was unable to find a website for that PPA or any info at all about it. I even searched for http://ppa.launchpad.net/kelebek333/hplip/ubuntu, which is added to Software Sources after adding the PPA.
