Keyboard Lag

Post by random_string »

I've been using LM for a few months, but recently upgraded my desktop to a newer, more powerful machine. I've noticed over the last few days I have a lag when I'm typing in the keyboard. It doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen more frequently when I'm typing in my virtualbox running windows 10 pro.

Here is the output from my system report:

Any ideas what might be causing this? It's really slowing me down for my work.

What other programs are running at the time?
Probably best to wait till it starts lagging then run the following which will display the top 30 resource hogs:

Code: Select all

ps aux | sort -rk 4,4 | head -n 30

I'll run that the next time it happens. I have noticed it seems to happen more often when I'm running Windows 10 Pro in a Virtualbox, but certainly not exclusively. Infrequently it happens before I even open the VirtualBox program.

I just upgraded to LM21 on my newer PC (details below). I used to use LM20.1 without any issues whatsoever. After upgrading, I started noticing an erratic lag between the time a key was pressed, and the time it would show up on the screen. Sometimes, the keystroke would show up double or triple. Other times, the keystrokes never show up on screen.

OS: Linux Mint 21 x86_64
Host: B365M DS3H
Kernel: 5.15.0-43-generic
CPU: Intel i7-9700 (8) @ 4.700GHz
GPU: Intel CoffeeLake-S GT2 [UHD Graphics 630]
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070
Memory: 5428MiB / 64057MiB

I rebooted and the problem persisted. Any clues?

Hi restrepo,
Best you start a brand new thread as it would get confusing.
When you do, can you follow the instructions at number 5 in the following link:
