Lenovo Thinkpad E15 Soundcard-Problem

Post by wupperjojo »

Dear Linux-Users,
I'm just sitting on a Lenovo Thinkpad E15 with Linux Mint 20.1 Cinnamon. But I can't play sound with this laptop.

What I tried:
cat /proc/asound/cards -> result: --- no soundcards ---
user was added to group audio
lspci | grep -i audio->result: 00:1f.3 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation Device a0c8 (rev 20)
basename -s ".ko" $(find /lib/modules/$(uname -r) -type f -name "*.ko" | grep snd | grep via)->result: snd-hda-codec-via
snd-via82xx
snd-via82xx-modem
-»modprobe to each snd without problemresults
<alsamixer>->result bash: Syntaxfehler at unnown word »newline«

Unfortunately all this trials didn't solve the problem. The manufacturer unfortunately only gives drivers for Windows on his website, so I can't just download an driver from manufacturer.

Can you please give me tipps what I can try?

I discovered that using kernel 5.8.0-50 seems to make the sound work as well as the screen brightness (my other issue). Unfortunately this kernel is only supported until August.
