LM20.1, HP Envy x360 Touchpad not working [SOLVED]

Post by jat3 »

Hello. Just registered here.
I was going to install Mint 20.1 (Mate) on my HP Envy x360 (13m-bd0023dx).
I got my boot Flashdrive created, and used it to boot the laptop.
I noticed my touchpad was not working. It never showed up on my Control Center...I had to plug-in a USB mouse.

I have other distros in Flash drive, tried them and my touchpad worked on all of them.
Manjaro, Fedora, OpenSUSE, Ubuntu Studio, Kubuntu, Lubuntu.

I've been using LM 19.3 (Mate) on another laptop (HP Pavilion x360 11m-ap0013dx), and never had 'any' issues with it.
I would prefer LM 20.1 over any of the distros I tried.I almost always use my touchpad only...so pls...I need help.

Let me know what I need to provide here.
Thanks, appreciate the help.

Additional information:

. My Envy x360 came with (of course) Windows 10, and I was going to do a dual-boot with LM20.1 Mate (64-bit)
. I tried the LM20.1 Flashdrive on my other laptop (HP Pavilion x360), and the touchpad works.
. Here's the output of System Reports => System Information (pls note that this is NOT installed, but boot from Flash drive) :

Maybe next will help: https://linuxmint.com/rel_ulyssa_mate.php. Look in the section Touchpad drivers.

Regards, Jože

EDIT: Some other drivers are also missing. For a very recent hardware you have, you should use Edge edition with kernel 5.8, https://linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=287, https://linuxmint-user-guide.readthedoc ... /edge.html
