Lenovo IdeaPad-Slim-7-14IIL05 Touchpad not working

Post by jarobyte »

Hi all,
I have recently bought a new Lenovo laptop. The touchpad works fine on Windows but it randomly fails to work after startup on several Linux distros. I have followed the release notes, tried new versions and tried several fixes and nothing seems to work.

output of hostnamectl:

Static hostname: jarobyte-IdeaPad-Slim-7-14IIL05
Icon name: computer-laptop
Chassis: laptop
Machine ID: 939972095cf1459c8b22cc608eff85da
Boot ID: 91a5f3a0a01a433a89eb7d76109d121b
Operating System: Linux Mint 20.1
Kernel: Linux 5.4.0-58-generic
Architecture: x86-64

output of xinput:

⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Logitech M705 id=11 [slave pointer (2)]

↳ Ideapad extra buttons id=16 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Intel HID events id=17 [slave keyboard (3)]

As you can see, apparently the touchpad is detected right now but it's not working, but a external mouse works fine.
Any help appreciated!
