Post by dkwflight »

Hi
I recently built a new computer
intel Core 7 CPU
16g ram
1 terabyte SSD
AN optical DVD reader

Mint 20
VLC
what I am finding is the dvd drive seems to work ok except when trying to run a movie. nothing that have tried seems to work.
I tried to add multimedia program with no good result.
Thanks

Did you install the Multimedia Codecs mentioned in the First Steps section
of your Welcome Screen?
The package you need for dvd is libdvdcss2
This is included in the Multimedia Codecs package

Nah--just install it like this in a terminal:

Code: Select all

apt install libdvdcss2
If the package is already installed that will report it as such,
otherwise it will be installed.

This is from my machine:
uno@ulyssa:~$ apt install libdvdcss2
[sudo] password for uno:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
libdvdcss2 is already the newest version (1.4.2-dmo1).
