Laptop battery indicator showing a question mark

Post by mr_mke »

I have an old HP detachable and I'm tried to install several distros on it. Each time with a new load of things that doesn't work and finally I did mint first mate then XFCE and sure this time I got much less problems but the thing that annoys me is the battery indicator It shows a question mark instead of battery level, It even ran out as I was typing and I had to wait for it to charge and come up again
When I looked in the power setting under devices I could not find the battery although I'm using it not the power adaptor
i attached some pics of the stuff I was talking about also a dump of lshw command it is also listed below

Re: Laptop battery indicator showing a question mark

Welcome to the forum. Nice post, but I want you to know about the "Code" tags. The button that inserts these tags is marked </>. You can edit your first post and put that long output in code tags if you want to.

The problem you are seeing is a long-standing problem which may not have an easy solution:

Disable in Power Manager (see figure).
Enable, if Mint allows it, in the panel (Power Manager plugin).
The "System Reports" program usually fixes this in Mint 19.3.

Note: I cannot show the charge indicator working as I am using no battery. But I show you the options.
