Hi. Welcome to the forum.

To help others help you type this in a terminal:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxxxrz
Post the output in "Code" tags. The button that inserts these tags is marked </>

Also post the output of this:

Code: Select all

sudo debconf-show keyboard-configuration
Some of these items are mentioned at the top of your post message:

If you live boot Linux Mint with your installation disk, do the keyboard and touch panel work?

Did you encrypt?

I guess you need to search for a Linux-Surface kernel:

This is a relavent topic that has almost no details to go by:

Would you be willing to reinstall LM without disk encryption, or do you want disk encryption? I encourage the former :D

It might be you need a higher kernel on that newer machine. Try the 5.8 or 5.11 kernel.
