No USB mouse is ever attached; I use the touchpad. How do I stop this, preferably by stopping the constant stop-start, or suppressing syslog messages if that's not desirable?

Mint Mate 20.2.

I also have this problem with my Juno laptop. Makes journalctl a PITA to use.
