Moto E Cell phone

Post by dave8671 »

This is my friends phone he would like to transfer some pictures to his Linux mint 20 xfce desktop. When we connect the the Moto E it state cannot mount it. Now I know from my Samsung tab 2 and my S8 xfce does allow me to move files around on all my LM systems. What I do not know is does this moto phone require to allow access to the USB on the phones screen? But I do not see a option for that.I will not have access to this phone till tomorrow at my Gym session.

If it doesn't see the memory, you may have to use windows. Make sure you're not connecting through any hubs. Also try a different cable. And different port.

I use Wifi-File-Transfer from the Android Play-Store.
Start it on the phone then in your Mint's web-browser (doesn't matter which one) go to the IP address that the app shows you and navigate to the folder (Pictures?) where the photos are stored.

It works brilliantly for me and is very simple to use without needing cables or anything else, not even bluetooth which is probably not available on a desktop computer.

Warpinator (installed by default in LM20) would be another one, but it works for some people and not others, for no obvious reason.

I never considered Warpinator due to the device being a phone. He does not use windows he has a older mac desktop. I will try each option to see which one works the best.

You're one of the lucky ones! Others have had problems with warpinator, and I find it can be iffy linux <-> android phone.

Well I for one am happy to read your issue is " Sovled" xP :D Keep your sense of humor sharp and flexbile.

But, please put "Solved" in the subject line of your original post so others scrolling through topics on this site know up front the issue has been resolved.

Cheers.

To be honest I though warpinator was going to fail its surprise me. Though my friend Jeremy will be using warpinator on his family's android phones this may be where could be a issue. We will see how it pans out
