I've had this problem since I installed Linux Mint 64-bit a bit more than a year ago (it didn't bother me until now since I rarely used my laptop) where every time I close the lid or let my laptop go to sleep, I am unable to wake it up. My Laptop is a Lenovo Thinkpad T14s Gen 1 with an AMD Ryzen CPU.
The power button LED remains blinking as if stuck in sleep mode. I've tried everything to wake it up, press keyboard keys, use the trackpad and even press the power button but nothing happens. It's as if the OS was unable to receive any inputs to wake up.
The only way to get back to normal is a full reboot which of course is extremely annoying.
