I am using Linux Mint 20.2 Cinnamon and have noticed a (for me) very annoying problem.
The screen backlight on my laptop often increases to 100% after the screensaver has been activated. This happens nerly every time the screensaver has been active. I assume it not shall be like this. If it should, how can I switch of the increase to 100 % brightness?
I often set the screen brightness to about 15 - 20 % because my computer has a very strong backlight. It can nearly be used outdoors.
I have a Huawei Matebook Pro X laptop and I use it often in a dark room. So I really need to reduce the backlight.
I guess the wast majority never notice this problem because their screens are not as bright as my.
It is very annoying to have to reduce the brightness every time I unlock the computer after the screen saver has been activated.
When the screensaver has been activated the it dims the screans brightness. I guess it is here the problem occur, when the brightness shall be set back to what it was before screensaver started.
It works great in all aspects Linux Mint, but not in this area.
What to do?

Re: Screen backlight increase to 100% after active screensaver
Does the backlight increase when the screensaver starts or after you unlock the computer? Considering how low you normally keep the brightness, I would think there would be a flash of light when the setting changes from 15-20% to 100%.
I do not see anything in your data which could indicate an issue. The next time you unlock the computer after this happens, run
dmesg -T | tail -n 200
in a terminal. Maybe it will give an indication of what is happening.A woman typing on a laptop with LM20.3 Cinnamon.
