Mint no longer recognizing Android phone (worked previously)

Post by ReaderGuy42 »

I had been connecting my Huawei P Smart fine for the past few months since I started using Mint. Just today it started that the PC no longer recognizes my Huawei phone. I know the cable is working, i.e. transferring data since in "Devices" the "HiSuite" thing shows up, which is Huawei's built in Windows suite of accessing the phone, which I've never used. Normally, so far, along with HiSuite the devices of the phone hard drive and the SD card would also show up. Now they don't.

I'm not sure what changed.

Here's the Inxi:

Here. I should add that the cable is not the issue, since it's the same that I've been using for the same purpose for months.

It has detected the phone. Are you allowing access from the phone when you connect it?

It turns out that it's a problem of the phone, I think. I tried it on a Windows machine and the same thing happened again. I.e. "HiSuite" shows up, but nothing else (even when I hit "transfer files").

I don't know how to allow access, as you say? I don't think I've changed anything on either the phone or my PC. How do I do that?

Thanks!

Most phones that connect to a computer via usb, a message will pop up on the phone asking you to allow access, it does on mine. If winwoes is having problems with the connection then it could be the usb port, try another port and see what happens or it could be the cable, try another cable and see what happens.

Thanks! It does always ask if I want to transfer photos, data, or just charge. I always click transfer data and it usually (up till now) does work. I've also tried another cable and another port.

I've tried that, and the first time I tried it a few months ago it worked, but now it no longer does. Thanks though!
