No audio devices in 'sound' after connecting bluteooth earbuds

Post by basijan »

I have been struggling with this for days now - I am simply trying to connect my blue-tooth earbuds.

After finally accepting that I cant have hi-fi audio with the mic, I just want to connect and enable a2dp, I have tried everything I could possible find and now I'm just stuck in this situation:

1. connect with bluetooth - appears to succeed
2. go to 'sound' - notice a completely empty 'Device' section
3. install pavucontrol and run - it just hands with this message "Establishing connection to PulseAudio. Please Wait...."

I am at a total loss now what to do, can someone please advise how I can start troubleshooting this?

Please let me know what info I can provide, or anything I can do to simply connect bluetooth earbuds and listen.

I have tried so many different things, including many differnt solutions using blueman, as well as trying some pulseaudio + pipewire stuff - everything almost works, but I can never just reliably connect and listen

Please read the forum rules with regards to Sect 5. Information is what we need in order to help you. In terminal copy & paste the following command and post the results back here in between the code display brackets </>. Try installing Pulseaudio.
inxi -Fxz

Post the results of the following command also..
sudo dmesg | grep -i Blue

Then you can follow the next...

In terminal type in the following...
bluetoothctl
It should respond with the following...
Agent registered.

It should be now in root..
[bluetooth]#
Type in..
scan on
Should result in..
Discovery started
It should return with..
[New] Device (eg) F0:65:DD:67:55:09 Name of bluetooth mouse

Then type..
pair F0:65:DD:67:55:09
The results should say..
Pairing Successful

Then type..
connect F0:56:DD:67:55:09
The results should say..
Connection Successful.

Then type...
trust F0:65:DD:67::55:09
They result should say..
Trust succeeded
