Alienware x17 r1 - WiFi & Ethernet not working

Post by HolyAcorn »

Hey! I am quite new to Linux so forgive my newby lingo and perhaps awfully wrong assumptions.

So basically, ethernet and wifi is not working. From searching around online, I did "lshw -c network" and got that my networks are unclaimed, from more searching, the answer I came to was that this was because of missing drivers, if so, are there drivers available for the Intel Killer 1675w? If not, anyone know what could be the issue?

Thanks beforehand for any help! (:

Install the 5.13 kernel in Update Manager, View, Linux Kernels & reboot. See if that solves it for you.

I'm not OP, but this advice just made a $2500 laptop Linux-friendly. Thank you. It sounds like I have similar/identical hardware as OP, so I'll bet it will work for him as well.

You could install the "Edge" edition. That has nothing to do with Microsoft's browser, but offers an HWE kernel right from the install.

Download http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/m ... _amd64.deb and put it on a thumb driver and put it on the Mint computer, double click on the file to install, then reboot
