I have not been able to confirm this, but my trouble behavior might -- emphasis Might -- involve the synaptics driver
for the trackpad. Specifically, a trackpad when there is no physical mouse or pointing stick available to the laptop.

===========================================
Even though I enabled the setting "don't scroll while typing" my cursor flies all over my screen due to the slightest contact with the trakpad.
I've tried disable, restart, enable and similar cycles of the setting without success.
There was a time in the 90s when I could tinker an X-config in my sleep. Things have changed so much that I've no idea
how to convince X-11 (if it's still in use) and Cinnamon Desktop and various applications (browsers, libreoffice, etc) to
do something different. I've been happy with out-of-box Linux Mint Cinnamon since v8.4 Ubuntu..... sigh.
