[SOLVED] Asus PRIME Z690-A + i7-12700K compatibility with LM

Hello,
I am about to buy a new PC with:

- Intel Core i7-12700K ("Alder Lake")
- Asus PRIME Z690-A

(no graphic card, as i7-12700K has integrated graphics) I want to avoid graphic cards problems.

I don't know if both are 100% compatible with Linux Mint, or they may have issues, as i7-12700K integrated graphics not working...

Would you please tell me how to find it out? Is there any short of "official" motherboard, and processor compatibility list for Linux Mint?

(I have looked up ASUS web page for Z690-A, and found no mention to Linux)

Sorry if my question is a bit stupid, I am not so good at Linux.

The problem is the graphic card, which should be supported from kernel 5.13 on, but also fails, when 5.13 or higher is installed. In the moment Linux and this combination doesn't seem to be a good way.

One must pass a kernel parameter to get graphics hardware acceleration to work with the 5.13 kernel as mentioned in this post in that topic.

I have not tried your solution yet, SMG, as I do not have the HW. But your answer givers me confidence that I can buy it, though I will have to make some changes, as you say. You have helped me a lot.

I mark this post as [SOLVED] , as I think your answer is all I need to solve this question - apart from being able to add the i915.force_probe=4680 kernel parameter, which I am afraid will bring intense experiences to my life . Anyway, that would be another topic, I think.

Just wanted to let you know, the person in this topic (different mobo and different 12th-gen Intel) Intel graphic not recognized for 12th Gen Intel Core was able to get graphics working properly with the 5.14-oem kernel without using a kernel parameter. One can install the latest 5.14-oem kernel with sudo apt install linux-oem-20.04d and reboot.

I have just updated to kernel 5.14.0-1022-oem, (sudo apt install linux-oem-20.04d, no extra parameter needed), as she reported someone else did. And my i7-12700K UHD Graphics 770 work fine. I am writting this using two 4K monitors - both scaled Double (Hi-DPI), as my old eyes need.
