SATA SiliconImage 3112 installation issue

Postby aleksandarcajic » Wed Dec 02, 2009 8:57 am

Hi to all,
I have an issue during installing Mint 8 on Epox MB with integrated SATA controller. At the moment when hdd with his available partitions should be shown (after partition manager is started) during installation, I got empty partition list. Without hdd device and available partitions on it.

But when I run GParted application everything is fine, hdd is there and all available partitions are visible. I've tried to reformat and recreate partitions but again installer can not see any device.

Please help!

Best regards,
Aleksandar Cajic

This is the most difficult point in the install (the second most difficult is when grub is to be installed) but normally creating the partitions first in gparted solves the problem
Do I understand you right that you see the part where you are to select a partition to install but there are no partitions there?
Also please post your lspci and tell us what hdds and optical units (as exactly as you can, please) you have
Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
