Yes, I never changed bios settings so I doubt changing the battery could be a solution.

Okay! I got the 8GB card and I haven't had a fault in 3 days:) So I suppose I'll run on 4GB until Sunday and on that day I'll put the 8gig chip in. Then I am going on vacation for a week. After that we'll find out if it faults again. And if it does I'll switch 4gig cards. And if it faults again I'll run with 8 gb of memory. Sound like a plan?

no sooner did I say it didn't fault did it fault again. so now I switched 4gb chips and stuck the 8 gb chip in and that should have solved the problem

I'm so sorry I missed this post. Where is the "Disks drop down menu upper right"?

well.... I got the kernel panic again with the new 8GB card so this time I'm going to try installing on new file systems. first I'll try btrfs then I'll try fat32 and then 16. I started a new thread to see how to load from the live media and then to use the ssd as /home because it hasn’t paniced with the live media.

On my Mint XFCE, I find it in Menu, Accessories, Disks. The drop down menu is there upper right.

perhaps I should install the kernel that didn't boot to busybox prior to the start of the bug... which kernel is that?
